I’ve decided to create my own dictionary, because, well, there just aren’t enough words out there as it is. So, today I’m sharing two new words:

SUCKTACULAR – (adj) 1) when a person sucks at something in a really big way. 2) when something just sucks a lot

example:  That movie was sucktacular. I’m really sucktacular when it comes to yard work.

REEKTITUDE – (noun) The aggressive overuse of cologne in lieu of good hygiene.

example: Man, that guy on the bus had some serious reektitude going on.

I plan to add a word or two daily.

Kathy Ivan has added a new word for today:

CRAPTACULAR – (adj) An overabundance of really crappy ideas or design. Sentence: My current work in progress certainly is craptacular. :-)

Thanks, Kathy!

  1. I, too, make up words all the time. Because dammit, I sat through six years of college (for a four-year degree, because that’s how I roll). I earned it.

    Welcome to the blogosphere!

  2. Hey, Barbara

Congratulations on starting the new blog. It’s a task to keep after one (here speaks experience, I’m so bad at blogging consistently) but so worth it. Love the dictionary idea. On of my personal favorites is craptacular. Definition: An overabundance of really crappy ideas or design. Sentence: My current work in progress certainly is craptacular. 🙂

    • Oh, if you don’t mind, I’m so adding craptacular to the dictionary, and I’ll use your definition as is. May I? Thanks, Kathy.

  3. Coffeeish- (noun) Beverage with *some* coffee in it (typically, less than 20%), that is otherwise comprised of sugar, artifical flavoring and some creamy substance.

Example: She drinks her coffeeish through a straw so as not to stain her teeth.

    Welcome to Blogville!

    • Great, Chrisine. Can I add coffeeish to tomorrow’s list? That’s actually how I drink my slightly coffee flavored half-n-half with splenda.

  4. Congrats on your new blog, Barbara. I won’t share my invented words because they usually combine English and French swear words. Not so good, but can be very satisfying… 🙂

    • My pleasure, Maurren. The credit for craptacular must go to Kathy Ivan, though. Now, if you really suck at edits, you’d be sucktacular.

    • Thanks, Nicole. I had lunch with a few friends today, and I shared today’s words. She claimed the whole #5 city bus has reekitude. Ha! I have a list to add. I’m thinking once a week posts? Or, ever few days? Not sure.

  5. Too funny, Barbara. I especially like sucktacular. When I first saw the word “asshat” I laughed out loud. Not sure who started that one, but it sure fits. Great post. 🙂

    • Thanks for stopping by, Marie. Asshat is great! Kind of like assfault/asphalt. It you were a non-English speaker, our language would be really difficult.

  6. Hi Barbara! Congrats on the new blog! I love the idea of creating new words, I do it all the time, too, but naturally I can’t think of one right now 🙂
